SER Certifier (18.75 hours per week)

Are you an experienced Structural Engineer and SER Certifier looking for a role where you can utilise your technical expertise, take on responsibility and play a key role in delivering high-quality structural projects?
To provide professional structural engineering expertise through the certification of structural designs under the Structural Engineers Registration (SER) Scheme, whilst supporting the business with specialist technical advice, quality assurance and leadership. The role also provides recognised expertise in timber frame engineering, supporting clients, colleagues and the wider industry.
Role and responsibilities
Review structural engineering designs and supporting calculations to ensure compliance with the requirements of the SER Certification Scheme and all relevant legislation, standards and guidance.
Agree appropriate certification scopes for projects in accordance with the SER Scheme Rules.
Certify and sign structural certificates as an approved SER Certifier.
Maintain professional competence and compliance with the requirements of the SER Certification Scheme.
Support the continuous improvement of quality assurance and technical standards across the business.
Undertake structural inspections and provide technical assessments where required.
Provide specialist structural engineering advice and guidance to engineers across the business.
Act as an expert witness in timber frame-related legal proceedings where required.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and other key stakeholders within the timber industry.
Support business development activities by promoting the company's expertise and identifying new opportunities through established industry contacts.
Provide specialist technical advice and consultancy services to timber industry clients.
Support and mentor the Timber Engineering Team in Scotland.
Share specialist timber frame knowledge across the wider business to enhance technical capability and consistency.
Maintain SER registration and undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with professional body and SER requirements.
Work in accordance with company policies, procedures and quality management systems.
Promote a positive culture of collaboration, technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Education requirements
Registered SER Certifier.
Chartered Structural Engineer.
