Thames Park School, Essex

Value - £24m | Client - Innovare Systems Ltd

A new secondary school featuring a three-storey teaching block and a separate sports hall.

Accommodating 900 pupils aged 11-16, Thames Park is one of the first schools to have been delivered through the Department for Education's MMC1 framework.

Constructed by Bowmer + Kirkland, the scheme comprises a three-storey secondary school using off-site manufacturing components.

Working with Innovare Systems, we were responsible for the structural timber frame and Insulated Structural i-Fast panels design for the new teaching block. The sports hall was also made of off-site manufacturing components, featuring glulam beams and posts, with glulam bracing bays. The walls and roof were made of the same components as the teaching block.

Recently opening its doors in September 2022, the new school provides a much-needed teaching facility for local pupils and is a resource to benefit the local community.

In October 2022, the scheme won the Best Use of Hybrid Technology award at the Explore Offsite Construction Awards.

Testimonial:

“Our team has worked closely with Clancy to make the benefits of the Innovare i-FAST offsite system a reality at Thames Park School, providing a great learning environment and experience for students and staff. The Innovare team assisted in the delivery of Bowmer & Kirkland’s ‘Configure Offsite 3.0’ a mature standardised yet flexible school solution, designed to exceed the stringent requirements of the DfE's output specification.”
