Dixons Newall Green Academy is a new secondary free school for the Department for Education (DfE), operated by the Dixons Academies Trust. We worked with Morgan Sindall to provide geoenvironmental, civil and structural engineering design services on the scheme which is located in Wythenshawe in South Manchester.
Accommodating 750 students aged 11-16 years, the project involved designing a new two-storey classroom block along with a sports hall with associated changing facilities, which provides out-of-hours community use. The existing retained building was remodelled and refurbished. Work also involved the redevelopment of the new external areas following demolition of the existing buildings.
