Are you a Senior Structural Engineer ready to take the next step in your career, or an experienced Principal Engineer looking for a new challenge?
We’re looking for a technical, self-driven and confident Structural Engineer who can lead and influence the delivery of innovative, sustainable and efficient structural solutions. Working closely with the local Associate and Divisional Director, you’ll play an important role in supporting and leading the team, while building strong relationships with colleagues, clients and project partners.
You’ll be adaptable, commercially aware and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects, develop your technical expertise and support the continued growth of our team.
Role and responsibilities
Develop concept design and be actively involved with all projects under your direction.
Deliver high-quality designs, drawings, and reports using engineering materials including concrete, steel, masonry, timber, etc., together with soils, foundations and drainage, and in a form that can readily be checked by another member of staff.
Apply Eurocodes, British Standards, current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations, and other design codes/information as appropriate.
Plan and manage resources for projects under your supervision.
Supervise staff under your direction and offer pro-active advice in relation to problem- solving issues.
Undertake thorough site investigations, complete inspections, identify potential issues, and solve problems.

Plan, replan and manage project resources under your supervision (exact level of involvement depending on experience).
Assess variations and appraise fee cost or timescale impacts and agree with customer organisations.
Identify and manage project risks.
Manage and monitor engineering teams to ensure utilisation and recovery targets are monitored and achieved.
Manage the workload, technical management, and oversight of design team members.
Undertake and arrange effective mentoring of employees under your direction.
Support other Senior Team Members in management of resources to ensure successful outcomes.
Represent the company at client and design team meetings as required.
Assist in recruitment, retention and management of staff and ensure successful outcomes for our clients/customers.
Assisting in the development of realistic and competitive fee proposals for future work.
Contribute to business development activities, attendance at events, social media promotions, production of case studies and other marketing as required for the benefit of CCE.
Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development and maintain CPD records in accordance with the requirements of the Institution of Civil/Structural Engineers.
Recognise the importance of clear communication with all members of the design and/or construction team regarding matters of safety, and keep up-to-date with information provided by leading Institutions such as the Institution of Civil/Structural Engineers and others i.e. CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Community Safety) or CROSS (Collaborative Reporting for Safer Structures, see www.cross-safety.org/uk.
Software capabilities
Use AutoCAD 2D Drafting, Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, REVIT and other industry-recognised software.
Microsoft Project or similar, Excel, Word, Outlook, Project Management Software.
Qualifications
Ideally Chartered Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers and/or the Institution of Civil Engineering.
