We were appointed as Structural and Civil Engineers in connection with the refurbishment of Houldsworth Mill, Stockport.
The overall value of the work at the Grade II listed building was approximately £8m.
Initially we undertook an assessment as to the permissible floor loadings. Major structural work included the creation of openings to form lift and staircase shafts. Several of the roof structures required major repairs.
This project received a Civic Trust Awards in 2002 as one of 50 projects that were exceptionally well designed and benefited the local authority or community.
