Martyn Headley

Martyn is a Director in the Manchester office servicing Clients in Civil & Structural Engineering disciplines. Martyn also has an established track record in the delivery of projects of a multidisciplinary nature, with Clancy often fulfilling the role of Lead Consultant. This scope of work particularly applies to the Industrial Sector.

Martyn attended University of Sheffield and after graduating spent 8 years with two North West consulting engineering practices before joining Clancy in 1991, (a useful reminder of the year of his wedding!).

During the first ten years Martyn developed further within the organisation, being promoted to Associate, Executive Associate and finally in 2001 to Main Board Director. Professionally, Martyn has a keen interest in developing and maintaining good and rewarding working relationships with fellow professionals, hopefully ensuring that projects advance in a spirit of collaboration between all parties. Partnering, either formal or informal, is seen by Martyn as being the “cornerstone” of success to construction projects.

Martyn has a broad knowledge base, drawing on practical experience over more than 20 years in the industry. Martyn has also developed a niche area of expertise for Clancy in Timber Engineering that now forms a “core activity” across a number of the national offices.

Away from work Martyn enjoys many pastimes that, in the winter months, usually involves competing on badminton courts around the North West (he is adamant he has yet to “peak” after 26 consecutive years of attempting to do so!). In the summer, walking, running or cycling up & down hills keeps him from under the feet of his wife and 2 young sons. Martyn’s only serious vice concerns his addiction to the trials & tribulations of Greater Manchester’s least known centre of excellence for football, Bury FC.
