John Stonehouse

John is the Director in charge of the Newcastle upon Tyne office where he has been responsible for the overall management and profitability since 1993.  During this time, the office has grown to its present staff of 8. During the 1990’s the office workload relied heavily upon the domestic subsidence market and this has since shifted and John’s client base is now much wider and includes Developers, Builders and Fellow Construction Professionals.  Regular commissions are received from the Industrial, Leisure and Retail sectors.

John was born in rural Northumberland and educated at Barnard Castle School, County Durham before reading Civil Engineering at Newcastle University.  Since graduating, John spent 4 years with a contractor, followed by a further 4 years with Northumberland County Council.  Over the next 5 years John worked with two local Consultancies before joining Clancy in 1990.

Having been brought up on the family farm, John developed a love of outdoor activities at an early age and this is reflected in his sporting pursuits.  John is a keen game angler and counts shooting deer, stalking and gardening amongst his regular activities.
