Clancy Consulting as a multi disciplinary practice have an in-house Sustainability Group that provides support at both strategic and operational levels. This allows us to develop an understanding with our clients on how we manage sustainable development issues.
Collaboration with our Clients' management team and the construction design team is the approach adopted by Clancy. Experienced Clancy personnel set out what the sustainability agenda means for their business, followed by an action plan to establish the limits available to support specific policy statements within the clients organisation. Elements including reducing cost, improving productivity and risk reduction are all considerations in this process.
Building Services Engineers are obligated to meet the targets set out in protocols set by governments across the world. Recent legislative change imposed by the ODPM involves the Buildings Regulations. Clancy are equipped with specialist engineers to manage these changes and offer solutions to these problems of achieving compliance under these new more onerous and demanding targets. The current Part L2(A) 2006 requires improvements in the energy performance of buildings to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 28% compared to the 2002 standards.
The introduction measures to promote and require the use of 'low and zero carbon' energy systems are also being introduced in the Building Regulations and in Supplementary Planning Guidance on sustainable construction and design has been issued by a number of planning authorities.
Increasing use of rating systems such as BREEAM reflect the importance of designing for a changing climate, by promoting sustainable technologies which are energy efficient and use clean carbon free technologies.
