Party Wall Matters / Building Disputes

The need for Party Wall Notices came about as a result of the extension of the original London Party Wall Act to the rest of the country. It affects, for example, individuals considering extensions, companies extending their premises near to boundaries and virtually all new development as urban areas become increasingly congested.

We are able to offer advice to Clients to draw up any necessary Party Wall Notices/Awards to ensure that the interests of both the building owner and adjoining owner are protected under the Party Wall Etc Act 1996.

The Act may require Party Wall Surveyors to be appointed to act for both the building owner and the adjoining owner in relation to any construction matters on or near to boundaries.

We are also able to offer advice to our Clients involved with building disputes.  These frequently relate to quality of workmanship.  We endeavour to create a situation where the matter can be resolved by negotiation rather than litigation and are regularly briefed by Solicitors to act in disputes and are often engaged as a Joint Expert or an Expert Witness.
