National Pride
The Government has set out a clear and positive agenda on sport through its Department for Culture, Media and Sport and its latest publication A New Era For Sport – Playing To Win. This shows a commitment to deliver a culture of national sporting excellence by supporting existing and developing world class talent. Its plan is to get more people taking up sport simply for the love of sport and to expand the numbers of talented English sports men and women. This is reinforced by it echoing the messages of community youth, education and health and fitness programmes. It’s been brought to light more recently by its increased concern over the national obesity problem.
Local Passion
The resurgence of local authorities creating better communities for residents highlights the need for more municipal facilities. Tackling regeneration and the growing issue of providing activities for youths to participate in, as opposed to hanging around on street corners, promotes local pride and positive feelings towards the area. Robson Lloyd's aim is to improve the quality of life for all through cultural and sporting activities, supporting the pursuit of excellence and championing the tourism, creative and leisure industries. Sport can be used as a very powerful force, as it can be easily translated through a diverse range of local health and education projects.
