Training and CPD Policy
Professionally qualified members of the Company are required to undertake a programme of Continuing Professional Development. This is achieved by a combination of regular in house seminars, attendance at organised training courses and self study.
A database of all courses attended by staff is maintained at head office and is used as a basis for planning further studies. All individuals attending courses or seminars circulate a summary to all relevant staff members.
A programme of day release is in operation for trainees who are encouraged to obtain formal qualifications. This encompasses both junior members of the Company pursuing typically ONC and HNC qualifications and mature members continuing their education via part time degree courses.
All staff members are encouraged to attain corporate membership of appropriate professional bodies as soon as practicable and membership fees and training courses are reimbursed by the practice.
The Company is recognised by the Institution of Civil Engineers as an approved training organization and by the Institution of Structural Engineers on their IPD Company Registration Scheme.
Senior members of the Company are encouraged to publish papers in recognised technical journals. Several influential papers and books have either been written by members of the company or produced by committees chaired by a member of the Company.
The Company publishes a technical newsletter, which contains items of topical technical interest.
The Company encourages the dissemination of technical information throughout the organization. A series of individuals act as focal points for various activities under the direction of the Technical Director.
